Way to a Healthy lifestyle
The pandemic and the eventual lockdown brought uninvited drastic changes to our eating habits. The access to what we eat, where we eat and who we eat with became extremely limited. The closure of eating joints, restaurants, bars and cafes led to people confined to eat home cooked food. The limited availability of food and the imposed compulsion of cooking at home led to less wastage of food and also developing cooking as a habit. I am pretty sure every house has at least one master chef cook with the social media feeds becoming a virtual competition platform. People in a way started enjoying the pleasures of cooking food at home and eating home cooked food more often than ever before.
For most of us, lockdown turned out as an opportunity to start learning cooking skills. In almost every family like mine, there was a drastic change in grocery shopping lists with more of fruits and vegetables and lesser snacks and junk. This personally helped me in promoting towards a good health and I believe it must have been the same for almost everyone.
Since many people tried their hands at baking stuff at home, the consumption of ready made and preserved sweets and snacks also reduced. I usually tried spending the least time at grocery shopping keeping the exposure to other people and things minimum, therefore focusing only on what is necessary. All this led to imposed healthier eating habits with no other options left.
In normal times, I used to take only one home cooked meal a day on an average. This is because most of the times I used to stay out of the house with my friends be it for school or for fun and eating food from food joints and canteens was a normal for me. With no other way left, eating food cooked by my mother brought with itself so many unrecognized pleasures and benefits. I believe, there is no food in this world better than home a full home cooked meal. It has started making me feel healthier from inside and wanting to eat this kind of food for the rest of my life.
